John Kelly is a former federal prosecutor and an experienced trial attorney. He currently serves as Managing Partner of the firm’s Washington, D.C. office and co-chair of the firm’s Compliance & Government Investigations Practice Group. John represents companies and individuals in internal investigations, government investigations, criminal prosecutions, and civil litigation in matters related to healthcare fraud and abuse (Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark Law), the False Claims Act, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (FDCA), the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and other regulatory and compliance issues. He also has experience in cases involving procurement fraud, securities fraud, accounting fraud, mail and wire fraud, and money laundering. John’s practice spans across a number of industries with a particular emphasis on healthcare and life sciences. John has been named one of Washington, D.C.’s Super Lawyers.
John had a distinguished career as a federal prosecutor with the Department of Justice (DOJ) where he held a number of leadership positions, including: Assistant Chief for Healthcare Fraud, Criminal Division, Fraud Section; Lead Prosecutor, Medicare Fraud Strike Force, Los Angeles, CA; and Chief of Staff and Deputy Director of the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys. John is a frequent speaker and writer on topics related to healthcare fraud and abuse. John is frequently quoted in national media outlets on compliance and government enforcement matters. His opinions have been published in articles by The Wall Street Journal, Reuters, Bloomberg News, Modern Healthcare, Law360, and others.
