As Senior Vice President Consumer Operations for Novant Health, Patrick is enjoying his second tour as a leader with the organization, having worked for Novant Health from 1999-2009 and rejoining in 2013. Patrick has 25+ years of healthcare experience as a senior leader and his current responsibilities include developing alternative approaches to employment with physicians that prefer to retain their independence. Such alternative approaches include creating new models under the umbrella of value-based purchasing that include accountable care organizations and clinically integrated networks, as well as management support organizations that bring resources and support services to community physicians. During his career, he has held executive-level operations and finance positions at numerous healthcare organizations including multi-specialty physician groups, for-profit and not-for-profit community health systems and nationally-ranked integrated delivery systems. Having completed Mckinsey & Company’s Future Business Leader Forum Program in 2016 and the University of North Carolina’s Leadership Novant program in 2007, Patrick has distinguished himself as a subject matter expert and offers a broad knowledge across the entire healthcare industry spectrum. During his cumulative tenure with Novant Health, Patrick has served in key roles with Novant Health as Senior Vice President Consumer Operations, Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer Novant Medical Group, Senior Vice President Presbyterian Medical Group, Vice President & Chief Financial Officer Greater Charlotte market, Vice President Finance and Director Finance Physician Services.
In 2009, Patrick pursued healthcare consulting interests before joining Health Management Associates as President of Physician Services in 2011. As a consultant, Patrick co-founded The Greenleafe Group, and from 2009 to 2011 supported key clients that included Bon Secours Health System, Charlotte Eye Ear Nose & Throat Associates, and MEDIC, a Charlotte-based EMS Agency. From 2011 to 2013, Patrick was recruited to Health Management Associates as the Health Management Physician Network President overseeing a physician-employed network of 1,431 primary care and specialty providers located in excess of 300 locations across 15 states stretching coast to coast. When Health Management Associates was purchased by Community Health Systems at the end of 2012, Patrick returned to Novant Health.
